WOVOdat - GVMID

Workshop on volcano monitoring infrastructure on the ground and in space

Goals:

improve the understanding of the current capabilities and limits of volcano monitoring from the ground and space

  • New Global Volcano Monitoring Infrastructure Database (GVMID) allows observatories to see instrumentation at other analogous volcanoes: helps design and justify their own networks
  • GVMID provides an easy way for observatories to track current network and optimize performance
  • GVMID is a snapshot view of the current capabilities to be revisited in 5 or 10 years
  • Identify gap volcanoes in GVMID that should be targeted by remote sensing and/or targeted deployments
  • Make connections among users/providers of satellite data to increase use at observatories

Format:

  • Develop Global Volcano Monitoring Infrastructure Database (GVMID) @ WOVOdat
  • Tutorials on how to access/use satellite data
  • Make recommendations to the space agencies and international volcanology community
